when you live in a town with a rich historical background like Wellesley, it can be difficult to catalog each and every building and take the time to consider its worth on a communal or cultural level. Places like the library, Town Hall, schools, and grocery stores, by their very definition, are valued because of the services they provide. Sometimes, however, the historic buildings and sites in town aren't well recognized, despite having contributed to the growth of the community. Take, for example, the historic Hathaway House at the corner of Central Street and Weston Road in downtown Wellesley. This building, a yellow clapboard farmhouse, sits discreetly beyond a row of generic storefronts, and can be easily missed when driving by.
