With a growing family, the couple settled on Wellesley for a variety of reasons. "We first visited Wellesley as tourists, walking around the cam- pus of Wellesley College," says Ying. "The area is so beautiful, especially the downtown Central Street area with small shops and people walking around." Her husband adds, "The town isn't overly commercialized; it's residential. The school system is terrific, and people are very polite." Business as Usual Five years ago, Shengli decided to apply for U.S. citizenship. "I sent in an application, and then I was contacted with a time to submit my fin- gerprints in person," he says. "When I arrived, I was also given a booklet about U.S. history to study." Several months later, Shengli went to the JFK Federal Building in Boston to take a paper exam.
