because I could see the tension draining from him." Then he would be ready to talk some more. "I feel so held and understood when you play," he told Kynvi. He came to realize that he was in no way to blame for what had happened to his son. "I really did whatever I could. My son's going to be OK, and I feel like I'm OK with God," he told Kynvi shortly before his death. "This is what music therapists do: We get people to trust us," says Kynvi. "I'm trying to convey all the compassion that I have through my voice and my music."
