For trained artist and dentist Sue Rosenfeld-Laufer, the colorful candy is an exciting new medium for "painting" portraits — one of her favorite pastimes. On a family visit to Dylan's Candy Bar in New York City, Sue spied a portrait of the owner, Dylan Lauren, created out of jellybeans and thought, "I can do that." It didn't take long for Sue to prove herself right. With a BA in studio art (and biology) from Wellesley College and a year spent as a Studio Diploma student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, she took a leap of faith and created a three-by-four foot jellybean mosaic of her daughter Izzy for her upcoming Bat Mitzvah celebration, then only a month away.
