Hill has called "the most unusual and without question the most evocative house museum in New England": Weston's Golden Ball Tavern. In 1963, at the time of the town's 250th anniversary, Gambrill and other histor- ically minded citizens were surveying the town to identify its oldest houses. Gambrill visited the elderly Ralph Frost Jones at his Georgian home on the Boston Post Road in Weston Center. Here he found a rare gem, a house that had been occu- pied by the same family for six generations, gentle stewards who made minimal modi- fications and saved everything.
