Newscast by the National Headliner Awards for three out of the past four years. WCVB has also been recognized with several national Edward R. Murrow Awards for Overall Excel lence and on the regional level was honored with Overall Excellence for nine out of the past ten years. WCVB received a prestigious 2017 National Gracie Award from The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM), and the station's numerous Emmy awards include Best News cast for seven out of the past nine years. Bill was named 2016 Broadcaster of the Year, the highest honor given by the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association (MBA). In 2013, Bill was named General Manager of the Year (top 25 markets) by Broadcasting & Cable Magazine and was named to the Boston Business Journal's inaugural "Power 50" list of most influential Bostonians. Even with that long list of accolades, the recognition that Bill is most proud of is WCVB's receipt of the prestigious Service to America Award in 2014 by the National Association of Broadcasters, given for the station's exemplary efforts to help the Boston community in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Boston Marathon.
