between us," says Judy Mongiardo, the net- work coordinator and a church member. FPM coordinates with 19 local faith-based congre- gations to house and feed three or four home- less families in their parishes for one week at a time throughout the year. Another 33 con- gregations support these efforts with dona- tions of meals, homework help for children, transportation etc. "The same space where the rummage sale is set up, in the basement class- room spaces, is where our families are housed during our turn as hosts," says Mongiardo. "Beds are set up and made, and comfortable couches are put out. Then, a few weeks later, it turns into our rummage sale. There is nice crossover. Many of our volunteers raise their hand to help at the sale too." The connection made between families and volunteers is evident at the special pre- sale that is made available exclusively to FPM families. The Churchwomen do not charge these parents and children for any clothing or items that they need. This gesture has a huge impact on those shoppers who can take their time to find professional clothing or school outfits for rapidly growing children. "It helped me out so much," says Jackie Rodriguez, a Framingham resident.
