November 17, 2016 Boston Globe article announcing his upcoming appointment, Cunningham identifies his top priority: improving community-police relations. He plans to pool resources of the IACP Institute for Community-Police Relations with the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, stating, "What we can do together, we shouldn't do as one-offs." And, Cunningham will advocate for President Donald Trump to appoint a task force to reevaluate the nation's criminal justice system. Wellesley residents were fortunate to have the intelligent, devoted, and very human Terry Cunningham at the helm of our town's police department for more than 15 years. In his new position at the IACP, Cunningham will continue to catalyze the difficult con- versations and decisions society desper- ately needs to move forward peacefully and respectfully—and for that, all Americans are fortunate. 79 s p r i n g 2 0 1 7 | W e l l e s l e y W e s t o n M a g a z i n e
