Happier Marriages When Ginny Keator moved to Wellesley from Cambridge with her husband and baby daughter in the fall of 1995, she craved a support system. Her realtor suggested multiple times that she join the Newcomers' Club of Wellesley as well as the Wellesley Mothers' Forum. Ginny obliged and is glad she did, explaining, "Back when I joined, many of my new friends' husbands traveled for work or had unconventional work hours as mine did. We all had small children and soon became a helpful group for one another as we navigated the ups and downs of parenting together. This took the pressure off our husbands to be our everything." The women Ginny met in both the community groups more than 20 years ago continue to be her dear friends. In fact, she often goes on women-only getaways with the friends she met as a new mom. Several of the moms recently completed the 40-mile charitable "5 Boro Bike Tour" in New York City. Not an avid bike-rider, Ginny was reticent to sign up for the adventure. "My friends encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone. More important, I knew they would not ditch me and speed ahead on the ride," comments Ginny about her decision to participate.
