ment, and an education," comments Rat Pack mem- ber Kathy Devlin. "We actually haven't changed that much from when we hung out in our freshman hall at BC. Or maybe, it's that we simply become younger when we are with each other," explains WellesleyWeston Magazine publisher Beth Furman of one of her favorite aspects of her long-term friendships with the Rat Packers. Beth points out how old friends help you regain the energetic and optimistic exuberance of youth. (Who wouldn't relish feeling, not necessarily being, 20 again?) Since graduating from BC, the Rat Pack comes together for college reunions and "big" birthday years, the ones that end in a "5" or a "0." For their last big birthday bash, the friends convened for a long weekend at Mohonk Mountain House, the iconic American resort in the Catskill Mountains in New York. To their surprise, after dinner a 70s band struck up music from their college days. The Rat Pack instantly hit the dance floor, just as they used to at BC. They danced with each other as well as with other hotel guests—even a new bride in her wedding gown—until the entertainment was shut down for the night. Undaunted, the BC friends continued celebrating in one of their hotel rooms. That is, until they were repri- manded for making too much noise.
