One local woman, Karen, says she had a very difficult time after losing her dad in the sum- mer and her mother in the fall of 2014. "It was a tough Christmas the first year…I was happy because of the holidays. There was a crowd of people and lots of food, but there was a big hole." Sometimes people are only waiting for permission to talk about the deceased. n PLANT a tree or a flower that will bloom at holiday time (poinsettia, Christmas cactus, etc.). n MAKE a donation to a favorite charity or create a scholarship in the person's honor to keep the memory of the deceased alive.
