Memorial, Shaw 54th Regiment Memorial, and the Holocaust Memorial. They pored through lists of residents who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and cross-referenced the veterans with WHS year- books archived by the Wellesley Historical Society, identifying more than 600 people whose names they recorded for perpetuity. Both in and out of the classroom, the students wrestled with weighty issues, such as if our country provides sufficient respect and support for veterans of all wars. An Alternative Way to Teach and Learn In the 2015/2016 school year, 80 teens took the leap into the Evolutions program, breaking with more than a decade of subject-based classes. For Evolutions students, studying is no longer about trying to figure out what teachers or standardized tests want from them: cramming for quizzes, midterms, and final exams, or writing term papers. Group projects take on a new dynamic as well.
