Finding A College That Fits for 2,800 spots in its incoming freshman class." Northeastern's vice president for enrollment man- agement attributes part of the surge to the school's co-op model where students alternate between semesters of study and relevant employment. No matter what a prospective college student values, to help minimize the anxiety around the college selection and application process, Tim Lee coun- sels parents to remember that the landscape has changed tremendously since they applied to school. He estimates that, in 1985, there were roughly 50 schools that accepted less than half of their applicants, while today there are over 300. But perhaps the best advice to heed from these four college counselors is that there are no absolute bad or good schools; a good school is all about fit with a student's learning profile, per- sonality, and aspirations. As you read through the list of schools below, consider the attributes that are important to your student's success. And rest assured, this list includes just a small per- centage of the approximately 2,500 colleges and universities in the United States alone.
