Finding A College That Fits Thanks to colleges' own Web sites and col - lege tour Web sites including eCampus Tours (www.ecampustours.com) and Campus Tours (www.campustours.com), students can make virtual visits to campuses far and wide to narrow their search. Some students wait to visit colleges "a plane ride away" until they have been accepted. Others visit schools in parts of the country that seem most attractive based upon their research during the search process. High school guidance departments, such as Wellesley High, offer college-counseling pages on their Web sites with links to these and many other resources to help students identify schools that fit their criteria. Wellesley High's Julie Trask counsels stu- dents to investigate honors programs at state universities for another approach to obtaining a top-notch education (such as at Universities of Vermont, Delaware, Texas at Austin, and Massachusetts) and to consider value for the money, singling out the State University of New York (SUNY) schools for their "bang for the buck." Given concern about finding employment after graduation in these tough economic times, it's not surprising that a recent survey of applicants to Boston University reveals that students are more interested in the return on their investment in their college education than in amenities such as housing, dining, and entertainment. Logically, col- leges and universities that offer co-op pro- grams are seeing a surge in interest.
