The itinerary we devised satisfied our stomachs and also left time for other pursuits: seeing the sites, reuniting with my old friends, discovering new neighborhoods, and, of course, shopping. For variety, we opted to stay at three different hotels, toured the historical high points, marveled at the mix of ancient and modern, and, with the help of local experts, immersed ourselves in the world of Turkish food and cooking. 162 WellesleyWeston Magazine | summer 2012
