and people who know me. Yet it was actually complete strangers that backed me, which was really cool," she says. That only served to motivate Levanto further, as she honed her message and readied making her pitch to venture capitalists. Speaking of venture capitalists, having one in the family can serve as a powerful motivator. That's been the case with Leonora Strobel Eckstein, a Dana Hall senior whose visits to her ven- ture capitalist father's office as well as to the Cambridge Innovation Center ("CIC houses the most startups per square foot in the entire world"), plus participation at Dana Hall's Summer Entrepreneurship Program, exposed her entrepreneurial instincts. "I've been intensely passionate about entrepre- neurship as soon as I was exposed to its mer- its," the 17-year-old from Cambridge says. Strobel Eckstein's passion has taken the form of conceptualizing a cycling-powered, phone-charging device called Bicycharge that earned Eckstein and her team top hon- ors during the Summer Entrepreneurship Program. Next up she worked on a service called Globalink at Youth Cities aimed at helping students learn languages through authentic exchanges with native speakers via social media.
