museums …the city is so rich. Wellesley is a wonderful combination of access to nature and culture. But this was a new stage in our lives." As much as residents want culture and convenience, though, they also still want to be a part of a close-knit community, as they had been before moving. And an acknowledgement of that is built directly into the design of properties such as the forthcoming 50 Liberty on Fan Pier. Its predecessor and sister building, 22 Liberty, has just been finished. Now it's open and occupants are moving in. Its immediate popularity meant it was completely sold out just 12 months after plans for it were announced. "It has become a neighborhood building, largely via word of mouth," says Joe Fallon, the project's developer. "Friends of friends are buying the units because they hear about it from each other on the golf course." Now, those residents have signed up to keep boats on site in the building's private marina just outside its doors and are looking forward to impromptu picnics in the abutting park.
