spring is the freshest season. It's all about focusing on what's new and about to grow, from the tiny buds on the trees to the bits of green peeking up through the dirt ready to provide our barren yards with color and new life. The birds chirping outside my office window are a constant reminder that spring is on its way if I can just be a little more patient. This issue takes full advantage of the spring mindset beginning with our "Ten Tips for Living a More Joyful Life." The tips instruct us to take a break from our busy lives and practice mindfulness, prioritize, and nourish our bodies and souls. In other words, refresh ourselves with what's truly important for our happi- ness and health. Other articles in this issue profile individuals whose fresh thinking, new approaches, and entrepreneurial spirit help them achieve their goals and make our communities better places. I was especially moved by our "Starting Early" article. I always knew that the young people who live and study here were especially talented. But the young people in this article take their knowledge and creativity to an entirely new level. Wellesley College first-year student "Astronaut Abby" Harrison, for example, raised more than $7,000 in one day to help send children to Space Camp. And Wellesley High School senior Sierra Levanto wants to make the world a better place by developing a diaper that is better for baby and the environment. Another creative, innovative, and talented young woman who spent her formative years in Wellesley is Cara Nicoletti. A butcher, baker, and now an accomplished author, Cara's book, Voracious, is an absolute delight. In it she shares memories about growing up in Wellesley along with favorite books and recipes influ- enced by those books. Her blog at www.yummy-books.com is worth checking out for more recipes inspired by favorite authors. Spring is also the time of year when we start thinking about summer vacations. Our Excursions Department has a great idea for a fun family trip. And before you go, pack your spring copy of WellesleyWeston Magazine so you can read the rest of our wonderful articles and find out what's new from our loyal advertisers.
