Recently, a Broadway actor from The Book of Mormon conducted an audition workshop, offering budding thespians his feedback. "He also did a dance workshop where kids learned choreography from the actual Broadway production," says Drew. "As you can imagine, that was met with lots of enthusiasm and excitement." Says one Wellesley mother, "My daughter had the experience of being part of a team putting together something that is bigger than any of them individually. She had the fun of being on stage and the practice of working on her part." The Wellesley Theatre Project also enjoys a growing, committed board of directors who volunteer their expertise in financing, fund development, marketing, and theater man- agement. "We have several people who are full-time staff, teaching classes and doing administrative work," says Rush. Rush himself still works professionally as an actor. "I bounce back between New York and Wellesley," he says. That connection is worth its weight in gold, because it lends the Project a direct link to the big leagues.
