Welcome to the crazy idea that became a smashing success — The Wellesley Theatre Project. "We're in our fourth year of programming," says Drew, who is also executive director. "We are a nonprofit children's theater, and we wel- come kids from four years old all the way through twelfth grade." With a history of strong community support for the arts in not only Wellesley, but surrounding towns, it's not a surprise that the notion turned into a tangible program that has taken off. It follows in the footsteps of many fine and performing arts institutions by being committed to cultivating community education and participation. Drew got her start in theater at the tender age of three, and she holds a BA in Theater from the University of Central Florida. "In col- lege, I started teaching children's theater, and I've instructed in both Florida and Colorado," she says.
