Leadership Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce and created the Women's Leadership Network, a series of programs that helps to highlight the contribution of women in Spain in areas includ- ing entrepreneurship, social media, marketing, and corporate social responsibility. She also chaired the US Embassy's Volunteers in Action program and is a member of the board of advisors for the Spain Start- up and Investor Summit. Susan Solomont's impact on Spain was huge, prompting her husband to often introduce himself as, "the husband of the wife of the United States ambassador to Spain." The ambassador post included its share of fun perks, too, such as hosting public figures at the embassy, including Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal and Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, and meeting the legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen when he was awarded the prestigious Prince of Asturias Prize by the Crown Prince of Spain. 63 s p r i n g 2 0 1 5 | W e l l e s l e y W e s t o n M a g a z i n e Overnight at the White House As a major donor and fundraiser for President Bill Clinton, Alan and Susan Solomont were invited to stay in the Lincoln bedroom at the White House on October 19, 1996. After checking on his daughter Chelsea's homework, the President entertained them with cherry pie, Coke, and wine that he personally delivered on a silver tray. "I never mentioned that I hate cherry pie," Solomont recalls of that auspicious eve.
