when they started kindergarten," says Nancy Cosimi, current presi- dent. "My husband and I have met some of our closest friends through the WCCA." As president, Cosimi is focused on strengthening ties between the WCCA and local charitable organizations to help teach children the importance of civic involvement. "Today, perhaps more than ever, it takes a village to raise a family, so it's important to have a way for par- ents to tap into the collective knowledge and support network of fami- lies nearby," adds Cosimi. Weston mom Annunziata Varela, who currently serves on the WCCA board as Media Relations chair, says, "I've been a Weston Community Children's Association member for about eight years and it's helped me foster connections with lots of families. The organization has children's activities, parent educational speakers, potluck dinners — you name it. I've met so many friends through the WCCA — people I can call in an emergency, or simply to arrange play dates with. My experience living in Weston would have been completely different if it weren't for the WCCA. It's helped me feel like I'm a part of a real community."
