A former Marine, Gray demonstrated how to use more of his leg strength. Guido Buchbinder then pointed out a more navigable por- tion of the wall to climb. The whole team rallied beneath the big man as he struggled and clawed his way up and over. Looking back, Musikavanhu laughs that no part of the wall was any easier, but his friend had found a way to erase his earlier failures. "Guido broke those negative thoughts and replaced them with encouragement." Whether it's a race day or an early morning workout at the GarageGym, each member credits his "brothers" with seeing more strength in him than he does in himself. That's what a community does for one another. So when Musikavanhu untied the muddied pink ribbon from his laces and gave it to Atallah at the end of the race, the gesture spoke volumes. Musikavanhu could not share this story without his voice breaking. But he insists he's gotten more from Night's Watch than he's given. Atallah, and others, have inspired him to take responsibility not only for his own physical shape, but the health of his entire family. Since the Tough Mudder, he's ascended Mount Kilimanjaro with his son Bobo, and his wife now works out at the GarageGym with their daughter Michal before school. For many in Night's Watch, working out at the GarageGym with Cavallerano has become a family affair. Breathing hard after the Blessing workout in November, Atallah says being part of Night's Watch has helped him at a time when he's felt "rudderless. It's a tremendous feeling to know you're surrounded by a great group of friends." He couldn't talk long that morning, however, because he had to get his son Davis to a football game. It took fellow Night's Watch member John Pastore to flesh out the story, laughing that his buddy makes it sound like he's just the chauffeur. 130 Night's Watch W e l l e s l e y W e s t o n M a g a z i n e | s p r i n g 2 0 1 5 " No winners, no losers, only personal bests!
