The homeowners did briefly consider knocking the home down and start- ing from scratch, but they ultimately decided they could get the look they wanted through a series of targeted improvements, thereby reducing construction time and preserving a home that emotionally meant a great deal to the entire family. But while the home retains its living character, no rooms were moved or enlarged, and the family's patterns stayed the same, physically it's an entirely different property. From the outside, the home no longer looks modern, but like a classic Cape Cod shingle style home.
