But don't worry. If you expect something to go wrong, you'll be ready for it when it does. Life's little surprises will be thrown at you for the rest of your life, so take them in stride on your big day and don't go to pieces when they happen. You'll laugh about them in years to come. two Stop, look, and listen While you may have been looking forward to this day your entire life, your "day" may only be as long as a few precious hours. So make a conscious effort to savor each moment. Look around. Notice the flowers, the beautifully crafted cake, and the faces of those you love. The day goes by quickly so you have to be intentional about enjoying it. three Sip and nibble While this is a day of celebration, imbibing too much doesn't make for pretty pictures, crystal clear memories, or a happy morning after. Brides and grooms often get so caught up in the festivities, they forget to eat. So assign someone you trust to deliver hors d'oeuvres to you and a taste of wedding cake to offset the bubbly. You'll remember more of your special day and you won't do anything you'll regret for eternity. four Write a note to your future in-laws Let them know how much you love their son or daughter, how much you look forward to being part of their family, and how much it means to you to have their support. It's a special way to connect with your in-laws, if you haven't already, and gets you off on the right foot with them. five Don't try a new look As much as you want to look stunning on your wedding day, you want your guests to recognize you. So don't opt for some crazy hairdo or a strip of green eyeliner that will make you look like a punk rocker. Be smart about the way you look on your big day. Photos last forever. How can you ensure that your wedding day is everything you dreamed it would be? Our ten tips will help you prepare for what will likely be one of the best days of your life and the beginning of many more wonderful days to come.
