publisher's letter the month of May has been called "merry" and in my experience it is just that. Throughout the month and into early June, calendars are filled with invitations to celebratory events: proms, high school and college graduations, end-of-the-year school celebrations and fairs, company parties, and Memorial Day weekend with a host of fun-filled activities to welcome summer. And once school is out and summer is in full swing, the frantic pace slows down as cars are packed for the Cape and family vacations, children head off to camp, and the number of vehicles on the road diminishes considerably. The summer months provide a welcome respite from our busy lives when relaxing barbecues and days at the beach replace car pools, C A R O LY N R O S S homework, and evening meetings. The pages of WellesleyWeston Magazine are a testament to how busy our residents are all year long. Over the years the pages of our Inbox section have increased and the list of people and companies with news to share has grown longer and longer. Our About Town pages are filled with photos of our residents attending BETH FURMAN events for worthy causes, and these pages have also gained popularity among our readers as the magazine beth @ wellesleywestonmagazine.com enters its ninth year of publication. More and more people in our towns and in surrounding communities are also reading our blog, wwmblog.com, and referring to its events calendar to find out what is happening on any given day or evening in our communities. I encourage all of you to submit your news and photos for Inbox, About Town, and our blog, and to "like" WellesleyWeston Magazine on Facebook in order to receive daily updates on news and events of interest to you. Even though we are a quarterly publication, our online presence enables us to interact with our readers on a daily basis, and I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities to stay connected. This issue is filled with ways to enjoy the summer season. Our Food and Wine department has some wonderful ideas to help you enjoy a day at the beach with a picnic that will provide fun food and refreshments for a relaxing time with family and friends. If you're looking for a new spot to visit this summer, you might like to try some of Rhode Island's precious treasures highlighted in our Excursions department. And closer to home, be sure to visit the Weston Garden Tour and nine private "gardens in the woods" to be held on Thursday, June 13 in honor of Weston's 300th anniversary. Whether you're headed out of town this summer or enjoying a "staycation" here at home, I hope you We l l e s l e y We s t o n M a g a z i n e | s u m m e r 2 0 1 3 treasure the time spent with those who are important to you.
